DONATIONS and GIFT AID

Every donation to the Pastoral Area and second collections and charities, however small, is much appreciated and necessary. Tax paying parishioners are encouraged to donate through the GIFT AID scheme as this attracts a further 28 pence in every pound - recovered from government! On this page are details of our Gift Aid schemes and the procedure for making "one off" donations

NB Parishioners who do not pay tax can still participate in any of the following schemes, just ignore the references to tax and gift aid.

GIFT AID

Please read about the different schemes before downloading and printing the forms.

We operate two main Gift Aid schemes enabling you to donate by Bankers Order or, if you prefer, in Envelopes. There is also a third scheme whereby you can make your donation to the parish by Bankers Order and second collections in envelopes. The following describes the schemes and how to enroll.

BANKERS ORDER DONATIONS
This is the easiest way to donate. Once the forms have been received the Gift Aid team will take care of the rest and recover the tax from the Inland Revenue. You can stop or change your donation at any time.
Having determined the annual amount you wish to donate, the frequency of the donations, second collections and special donations for Christmas and Easter you must complete the following forms, remembering to sign and date where appropriate.

Here are the three forms and information you will need. Click on the link to download, then print as normal.

Forms for Bankers Order Donations

1. Gift Aid Declaration.
Everyone participating must complete this, otherwise the charity will be unable to recover the tax . Simply add your name and address and sign and date the form.

If you are making donations to any other parish in the Diocese of Portsmouth indicate accordingly.

2. Bankers Order Form
Complete your bank details. (The sort code is on the top right hand corner of your personal cheques.)
The Payee account details will be inserted by the Gift Aid team
Having carefully considered how much you wish to donate, enter the amount and the frequency, ie Monthy, Quarterly or Annually and the date of the first payment.
Finally, add your account name and number and sign and date the form

The Bankers Order will only continue until such a time as you decide to amend or cancel it.

3. Donations Memorandum
You must complete this form to identify how you wish your donation to be apportioned for Special and Second Collections in order that they are also "Gift Aided" and benefit from tax recovery.

ENVELOPE DONATIONS
The financial benefits to the Pastoral Area are the same with envelopes as with the Bankers Order, provided you have completed a Gift Aid Declaration.
With envelopes, you can vary the amount of your donations from week to week, a necessary consideration for some. The downside of envelopes is the considerable amount of voluntary work required for distribution, emptying and counting the contents and banking the cash.

There are two options if you decide to make your donations in envelopes:

Envelopes Option One
You will be issued with envelopes, for each Sunday of the year and for each of the second collections, Easter and Christmas. All donations will be Gift Aided and 28p in the £pound will be recovered for the parish.

Envelopes Option Two
You will only be issued with envelopes, for Sunday collections. Donations will be Gift Aided and subject to the tax recovery. Second collections, Easter and Christmas will be at your discretion but will not be gift aided.

If you decide to donate by one of the above envelope options you must complete a Gift Aid Declaration and provide us with your details to enable us to provide you with the envelopes. Please download the required forms by clicking on the link below and printing as normal. When complete, send to the Gift Aid Team. The address is on the bottom of this page and on the forms. Your envelopes will be despatched as quickly as possible.

BANKERS ORDER AND ENVELOPES
Alternately, you could make donations by Bankers Order for Sunday collections and use envelopes for second collections, Easter and Christmas. This way you can vary the amount given to our charities whilst maintaining regular donations to the parish. All payments will be Gift Aided and the tax will be recovered.

Click on the link below "Forms" to download the three forms we require; Gift Aid declaration and notes, Bankers Order and teh Envelope donations Form. Print as normal.

Please refer to the section Bankers Order Donations (above) for guidance with completing the various forms.

ONE OFF DONATIONS

You may find it helpful to download and read the following before proceding.

Gift Aid Declaration and Notes re Completion

To make a one off payment, nothing could be easier. Simply write a cheque made payable to "St Peter's RC Parish" and post to the Gift Aid Team, address at the bottom of this page, or deliver it by hand to Peterhouse. If the cheque is for a charity please write the name on the back. If you are a tax payer and wish the donation to be gift aided, write "Gift Aid" on the back.( If you have previously completed a Gift Aid form the team will recover the tax for the parish.) If you have not previously completed a gift aid form you can download one above. After completion, sign it and enclose in the envelope with your cheque. That's all there is to it!

Higher Tax Payer?

If you pay tax at the higher rate you are entitled to relief on your donations and should include details in your annual tax returns.
