HOLY COMMUNION OUTSIDE OF MASS

For parishioners who are housebound or in hospital

Under the guidance of Canon Paul Townsend, for homes and nursing homes, and Fr Vincent Convery, for The Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH), there are special ministers who take Holy Communion to those who are too sick or elderly to attend Mass.

Parishioners wishing to receive Holy Communion outside of Mass should contact
Peterhouse, telephone 01962 852804 in the first instance.

One of the lay ministers under the co-ordination of John Mitchell will liaise with the priest and the parishioner. No visit will ever be made without a confirmatory preceding telephone call.

Fr Vincent visits the RHCH regularly. He will anoint the catholic patients and hear their confession if they wish. Lay ministers visit the hospital on a Friday or Saturday to create a list of those wishing to receive Holy Communion on the Sunday morning.

Any catholic going into the RHCH expecting to be there on a Sunday and wanting to receive Holy Communion should contact either:

Peterhouse: 01962 852804
